Risk Mitigation & CSR Seminar Presentations
75 participants benefited from an interesting and informative full-day seminar on Risk Mitigation and Corporate Social Responsiblity (CSR) in Africa on June 2 in Toronto. Expert presentations covered a variety of approaches and angles towards mitigating risk and implementing successful CSR programs in Africa. The third annual Business Person of the Year Award Sponsored by Tau Capital recognizes and honours an individual resident in Canada, who has contributed significantly to business development between Canada and South Africa. Chamber President Bruce Shapiro received the South African Entrepreneurial Award during South Africa's Freedom Day celebrations in Toronto on April 27. The award recognized his contributions towards trade and economic connections between Canada and South Africa.

Governor General's Canadian Leadership Conference
We are proud to announce that Tyson Johnson CFE CPP, Manager Physical Security, TD Bank Financial Group, has been selected as one of 230 persons to participate in the 2008 Governor General's Canadian Leadership Conference. The conference was created to broaden the perspectives of future leaders in business, unions and public administration so that their decisions are based on a practical understanding of the influence of their organizations on the general welfare of the community.

Join us for the premier African networking event on the Canadian business calendar. The Chamber's 6th Annual Indaba dinner on Oct. 17 will feature keynote speaker, Mr. Patrick Lamarre, President and CEO, SNC-Lavalin Nuclear, President, SNC-Lavalin Power Ontario, and President, SNC-Lavalin Engineers & Constructors who will speak on the Pebble Bed Reactor they are building in South Africa.
